54 ~ First Week After Brandon Was Born

By Kay Heitsch

Back in the day, they kept moms in the hospital after they had a C-section. I don't remember how long I was there, but Bill's dad's wife and her aunt came to help Bill out.
Little did they know Bill really didn't need any help or advice.
However, they did help and give him advice and their two cents on a few things. One being the vacuum. They told him this vacuum was too heavy for me. Bill said he let them know he didn't pick this vacuum; I did. We still chuckle about it today.
While they were there, Shannon's school had a Grandparents' Day. This was the only time Shannon ever had a grandparent, even though she wasn't Shannon's real grandma, attend a Grandparents' Day.
Brandon was a good baby. I planned to nurse even though I did not with Todd or Shannon. Our neighbor, Bev, came down and tried to help me. I had no idea what all this entailed.
Let's just say, nursing was not for me. Brandon grew and was healthy on Playtex nurser bottles, just like Todd and Shannon. I did appreciate all the help Bev gave me, even though it didn't work out for me.
I felt great and was back to my normal self in no time. Of course, my fingernails and toenails were already painted in the hospital, so that job was done. LOL!
I praise God, everything went well. I am thankful for Bev and her kindness. Bev and I are still friends to this day.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
