We went up and visited my Dad a few times after Brandon was born. Dad's health was not good. But he was still living alone at his home.
Dad still liked to go to the bars and have a drink. He had quit smoking and liked to "preach" about the hazards of smoking to the guys. I'm sure the guys appreciated it. LOL
A few days into February, Neil called and said my Dad had driven himself to the hospital again. This was nothing new; it was what Dad always did.
However, Neil called back a few days later and told me that Dad was walking around and visiting with people he knew in the hospital. For some reason, he had gotten into an empty bed and had gone into a coma. Neil said he was near death.
This was sudden, but it wasn't. Dad had been having health issues for a good five years. I was always wondering if Dad had died for a long time whenever Neil called.
This time was different. Dad was dying; it was only a matter of time. Neil said he would call when Dad passed on. I waited by the phone.
All of a sudden, Brandon, who wasn't even a year old, let out a loud cry. The phone immediately rang. It was Neil. Dad had passed.
I praise God that Dad was able to stay in his home.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
