51 ~ Moving To Oak Tree Drive

Since we had enjoyed living in The Oaks, a wooded neighborhood, we moved into another one on Oak Tree Drive. It seemed like a good idea at the time, even though we knew it would require a lot of yardwork. We figured it wouldn't be too bad since we wouldn't be there that long.
I met one of the neighbors. I said something like, "Don't get too close to me, because we won't be here long."
I was tired of getting close to people and then leaving. I told the kids to be friendly, but now Todd and I had learned to keep our emotional guard up. We had each other. That's all that mattered.
Todd and Shannon started school. Right away, they met friends. Shannon came home and said she had a new friend. I asked what her name was, but she didn't know. It didn't matter; she liked her.
I found a doctor in town. He had some old-school ideas, and the two of us did not agree.
I had given birth to two children, so I knew what childbirth was like. I wanted to have an epidural, and he insisted on a complete natural childbirth. I had no problem changing doctors, and he was history!
I started to call around to find another doctor. Being 35 years old, some doctors were hesitant to take me. However, I found a woman doctor in another town who took me as her patient.
I had never been to a woman doctor before. This gal was young, and I was one of her first patients. Having her as a doctor was very different from any other doctor I had ever had. Dr. J. even called me at home to see how I was doing.
I praise the Lord for moving to this amazing new town. Little did I know at the time what the people in this area would mean to me.

"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
