50 ~ Interesting Experiences

By Kay Heitsch

Everyone seemed happy that we were having a new baby. I don't remember feeling sick very long. I continued with this doctor until I had to find a new one in Ohio.
The neighbors gave me a baby shower. One of the neighborhood girls suggested we go to a male revue show in a neighboring city. Let's say that was quite the night. I never laughed so hard.
Before we left, the phone rang, and a woman told me I had won a prize. I hung up! I was sure it was someone trying to sell me something. However, she kept calling back.
Finally, the caller asked quickly if I remembered signing up for a hot air balloon ride at the Kentucky State Fair. I did remember! She told me I had won!
This was a wonderful experience! We were treated to a steak dinner and a hot air balloon ride. This ride occurred in the fall. All the trees had turned color. The balloon ride was very peaceful. I highly recommend doing this if you ever have a chance.
Our time in The Oaks had been fun, plus very enlightening, finding Dr. Peale's books.
I'm still friends with a few of the people who lived there. In fact, one of the boys Todd went to school with drove from Indiana to Michigan for Todd's funeral.
I praise God for the time we lived in The Oaks.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
