28 ~ Moving Out Of The South

By Kay Heitsch

It wasn't long after my scary experience with this Sheriff and friends trying to break into our duplex that the moving truck was packed and we moved out of this state. Now we were moving back to Ohio.
It was interesting because, as unhappy as these people were when I arrived, we had now become friends, and they said they were sad to see me leave, even the Sheriff's wife.
This time, we moved into a lovely townhouse. I no longer had to mow, but I did miss the beautiful grass in the South.
I met several neighbors. Most everyone seemed friendly. Now, Todd had some neighbor kids to play with instead of just Cindy.
Todd's newest friend was a little black boy named Donald. Todd and Donald both had to use the restroom one day. Todd came out and announced, "Donald's poop is brown like mine. We're brothers!"
We enrolled Todd in a preschool where he attended 3 times a week. I joined a fitness center and worked out while he was in preschool.
It wasn't too long, and I learned I was pregnant with Shannon. I had been told I might not have any more children. At the same time, I was told that having Todd was, more or less, a miracle. You know this is God, but I didn't at the time.
When Shannon was born, she was the only baby in the nursery at the hospital. The day we brought her home, it was way below zero. I started thinking, maybe the South wasn't that bad after all. LOL!
After Shannon was born, Todd, now 4, decided he was done with preschool. I stopped by to pick him up, and the teacher told me Todd had told them it was his last day. He needed to be home to take care of his sister. This surprised me, but I let him stay home, and he was a big help.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
