Bill did sing with the group in the Easter program. It went well, and everyone enjoyed it.
A few days later, we all met at a restaurant. I was surprised when Bill confessed to the group that he had been hungover from drinking the night before at the Easter program.
You have to understand that this religious group was very strict. They definitely did not believe in drinking alcohol. However, I don't remember their response, but it was kind, with no judgment at all.
A few weeks later, Bill sang a solo in this church. He stood and gave a brief testimony. He said he didn't know what I was talking about when I said I had given my life to the Lord, but he does now. Bill drank very little after this. He did drink a beer socially, but he didn't drink like he was.
This singing group started to put on programs. They called their group "From The Heart." We lived in Ohio at the time, but they drove to Michigan and gave a program at Grandma Z's church. She was thrilled!
The group eventually broke up. I wondered what would happen, but God was letting me know it was time to move on, and we did.
I praise God for directing me to this little church. I found the information I was looking for, and Bill started to sing and gave his life to the Lord.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
