39 ~ Precious Blood Neighborhood

By Kay Heitsch

Bill had been in two different stores in Indianapolis, but now it was time to move on to his next promotion.
We decided instead of leasing, we would buy a home. Some new homes were being built, and we found one we liked. It was located in a nice neighborhood.
We were able to pick out lighting, wallpaper, etc. One thing I noticed was that there were no screens on the windows. I asked about it, and the builder said, "Oh, you won't need screens. It goes from cold to hot and muggy. You won't want to open the windows." Boy, was he right!
This area was nothing like the ones we had been living in before. For one thing, people could pronounce our last name correctly. We figured out why when they had a big German Festival in the summer.
Another interesting thing was that all neighborhoods had religious names. Our neighborhood was called "Precious Blood." Another one I can remember was "Holy Family". When anyone asked Shannon where she lived, she would say, "Plesses Blood."
The people here were kind and friendly. I'm still friends with several from that area and even the neighborhood where we lived.
Keeping those friendships is another reason why I praise Him.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
