33 ~ Moving To Another State

By Kay Heitsch

Bill worked in two stores in Sandusky, and now it was time to leave this state.
Bill found another townhouse, and this time it had a lake, a pool, and a clubhouse.
Todd was now beginning the 1st grade. His elementary school was located right behind us. So, Todd and the other kids in the complex all walked to school.
Todd met a friend named Rodney who was Todd's age. Rodney also lived in one of the townhouses.
Todd and Rodney liked to fish in the lake in front of the townhouse. I can not tell you how many fish hooks I took out of the back of Todd's shirts.
I praise the Lord that Todd had this little friend who enjoyed fishing.
We made good use of the pool. In the afternoon, Todd, Shannon, and I would go over. They had a baby pool, so I would sit in there with Shannon. Shannon was around 2 years old. We all had nice tans.
A girl who also lived in the complex worked at a club. One day, she told me the club was having a bikini tan contest. She wanted me to bring Shannon and enter as a mother/ daughter. I declined, but I think maybe we might have won.
I also met a black friend, Eugena. She actually worked with Bill and lived in a neighborhood by our townhouse. Eugena came over a lot.
One day, we were out in the yard, and one of her friends drove by. Later, Eugena told me her friend wanted to know who the "sister" was. We had a laugh because I was as dark or darker than her.
Eugena and I stayed in touch for years. When she found out I had become a Christian, she sent me a Bible verse. "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." Philippians 1:6
I have kept this verse close to my heart ever since Eugena sent it to me. Eugena and this verse are yet another reason why I praise Him.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
