I remember feeling welcome and comfortable in the lounge at this women's circle meeting. I shared my testimony and left soon afterward. Thinking back, I'm sure I was emotionally exhausted trying to hold in all of my feelings.
A short time later, one of the ladies from the circle meeting called. She now asked if I would be willing to be the speaker for the UM Women's Sunday.
Immediately, panic hit me! I was not expecting this. I don't remember whether I agreed at first, but I finally did.
The service was on the Sunday after Easter. I was told not to expect a big crowd.
Well, someone advertised in the newspaper that I was speaking at the church. I don't know if that was the reason, but the church was full. They were even bringing in chairs.
I had never been to this church, so of course, I didn't know how things were run. I found out I had to walk down the middle aisle. Someone remarked that they had never seen anyone walk as fast as I did. I laugh to myself every time I think of this.
I asked if Bill could sing first. One of the ladies said this was supposed to be for women only, but they would make an exception for Bill.
After the service, several people approached Bill and asked him to join their choir. Bill did join the choir! Boy, they were glad they had made an exception.
I praise God that I didn't let my emotions rule me. I was learning to put my complete trust in the LORD. We enjoyed several years at this church. We made many great friends.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
